There is no question that your goal will be achieved just by ranking in search engines. For example, if you have an affiliate site and if you are on the 1st page of Google, you will get a lot of visitors, maybe it is seen that you are getting visitors but no sales. Then there will be no profit. Suppose you get 1000 visitors daily but 5 products are sold and on the other hand, you get 200 visitors but 20 products are sold then which one is profitable, you tell me? So even if you get a good ranking in the search engines, your purpose may not be fulfilled.
But the hope is that there are many types of web analytics through which you can easily measure your success. You need more than luck to succeed in the affiliate business. We will use Google analytics here because it is good and free to use.
How do you measure conversion and set your goal?
Conversion: Simply put, if a visitor comes to your site and performs a specific action, it can be called a conversion. This is a very important metric for SEO because it determines whether your site is getting what you want from visitors. Each site has one or more goals. When a visitor visits a site and completes a certain goal, then it is understood that conversion has taken place. Below are some examples of conversions:
As someone may have decided that if a visitor comes to my site and submits a contact form, it will be considered as conversion.
Newsletter sign-ups can then occur.
Then you may want the visitor to actually visit a certain page, in that case, that will be considered as your conversion.
And of course, if any product is sold, it must be considered as conversion.
In the case of a contact form, if you submit contact information, you must have a thank you page or another page. Which must be submitted as a goal conversion page in analytics. This is very important for SEO because you can find out through analytics which keyword the visitor has come to and met the goal.
Now let's take a look at the contact page of our example site.
If filling the form of your contact page is the goal, then if someone fills the information in the form of this page and submits it, then you can give a thank you on the next page.
Anyone coming to this page means he fills in your contact form and then comes to this page. So if anyone visits this page, it can be said that conversion has taken place.
Google Analytics
Let's take a look at Google's analytics. (For this you must already have an account in google analytics. If you have a problem getting an account in google analytics then search and you will find many tutorials on this subject.) You can get the same by searching a little. And when I get the chance, I will upload the pictures of the new analytics.
If you click Edit from here, you have the option to add a new goal. Click here to get.
Then fill out the form shown in the image below.
When you fill out the form here, leave whatever you can understand by default. First, enter the Goal Name, then keep the Active Goal on, keep the Goal position the same, select the Goal type URL destination - the other two are a little more complicated. Then select Head Match from Goal Details matches type because it will be easy to select. Enter the Goal URL. Keep Goal Value default, but if you already know the value of each goal then you can fill it. Save at last. This will allow you to easily determine the amount of your conversion and will also help you determine if the keywords you are spending your time on will meet your desired goals. If you do not find what you are looking for then just try another method. Many times, if there is too much field in the contact form, can be a problem, even for its design, your conversion may be disrupted. However, many times it may happen that a lot of visitors are coming to your site but conversion is not happening. In these cases, try to find out the reason for not conversion and even if there is no conversion, there is no reason to worry, because if you have a lot of visitors, it will be useful to develop your brand.
Traffic source
It is important to know where your site visitors are coming from. If you know this, it will be good for you. Because suppose you get a lot of visitors from search engines, then you can try to increase the amount of traffic from any other traffic source without any effort behind SEO.
Enter google analytics and find the Traffic Sources option from here. The picture above shows us how much traffic is coming at any given time and how much traffic is coming from any source. As you can see in the picture above, most of the traffic coming from our search engine is 8.48% and in contrast, the traffic from Direct and Referring sites is 10.6% and 6.25% respectively. Also, only 3.52% of traffic came from other sources. Since most of our traffic is coming from a search engine, it can be said that our SEO technique is working well. But one of the downsides of this and if you become too dependent on search engines, then changing the ranking system of search results will dramatically change the traffic to your site.
So be so dependent on search engines. Your site may receive up to 50% of the visitors from search engines, but more than that if you rely on SE, then you can get into trouble. So if the amount of traffic in the search engine is more, try to increase the visitors from other sectors, so even if there are any major changes in the search engine, you will not have too many problems. And hopefully, you know how fast Google's search engine algorithm is changing, it's hard to keep up with. All the specialists in the world who can't keep up with this - and who am I? So don't be afraid to say it again. If you work according to the system, success will come.
Thank you.
